In a dream, a rooster symbolizes the master of the household, while a hen represents the woman of the house. Being given a rooster signifies the birth of a son who will devote his life to serving others. A rooster may also represent a man of poor character who blends seriousness with jest and whose speech lacks substance. It can likewise signify a compassionate servant loyal to his master. Receiving a rooster as a gift denotes reconciliation with a friend. Slaughtering a rooster means neglecting the call to prayer, for the rooster also symbolizes the caller to prayers. Seeing a rooster indicates an increase in wisdom and knowledge or attending gatherings of learning. Becoming a rooster signifies nearing death or gaining knowledge of calculating prayer times. A rooster may also represent a preacher, sermon reader, singer, one who enjoins good but does not practice it, a person driven by desire, a broker, a guard, a generous man, or someone with strong resolve and a large family who prefers serving others while being content with little.
