Islamic Interpretation
In a dream, a discarded stone represents a dead person, or it may symbolize people whose hearts are hardened, heedless, ignorant, or devoid of purpose and occupation. Among people of knowledge, an ignorant person is often likened to a stone, reflecting rigidity, lack of understanding, and spiritual inertia. Owning a precious stone in a dream may signify acquiring such a stone in wakefulness, gaining firm control or dominance over a person of equal rank or strength, or entering into marriage with a compatible and well-matched spouse. If one sees himself turned into stone, it indicates disobedience to God Almighty; for a sick person, it may foretell death from illness or suffering a stroke that results in paralysis. Seeing a stone fall upon the land signifies divine wrath, a widespread calamity, or the rise of an unjust ruler over the people. If the falling stone splits or explodes, it means the harm will reach every household without exception. Carrying bags of stones or attempting to move mountains signifies undertaking an extremely difficult or burdensome task. Hanging a stone around one’s neck as a charm signifies the occurrence of affliction, misfortune, or evil. If a poor person sees himself striking a rock with a staff and water gushes forth, it signifies sudden wealth, prosperity, and a dramatic change of fortune. Stones may also symbolize devotion, asceticism, steadfast faith, and godly people. If a righteous or ascetic person sees himself possessing a stone, it indicates that blessings will manifest through him in his community, and people will seek his prayers and spiritual support. Owning stones used for grinding wheat, extracting juice, healing, or medicine—such as a millstone, porphyry, or therapeutic stones—represents a revered and respected figure, such as a father, teacher, master, shaikh, physician, learned scholar, close friend, or honorable relative. These stones may also signify property, comfort, profit, benefit, a rewarding trade, or extensive travel and movement across lands. (Also see Pebbles, Rocks)
