(Authority, Staff of office) A scepter in a dream signifies upright behavior, following the exemplary path of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, elevation to a prominent station, or assuming authority. It could also represent an unruly son, a devious man, or a hypocrite. Handling a scepter in play means employing such a person's aid and helping him gain advantage over his opponents. The staff symbolizes the human heart, and the rod represents man's speech. Thus, toying with a scepter means acting according to one's whims. Whatever befalls the scepter in the vision may be interpreted as affecting one's offspring or his tongue. Striking a small ball with a scepter, or playing ball with it, indicates a quarrel with one's wife or a conflict with a deceitful individual. A scepter can also signal the presence of jinn, warfare, ruin, or bygone advantages. Striking someone with a scepter means obtaining what one wants from him through underhanded means. Seeing one's governor or superior bearing a scepter means being entrusted to lead a significant undertaking.
