Islamic Interpretation
In dreams, pastries and sweets symbolize pleasant, lawful, and enjoyable earnings, ease in livelihood, and comfort of the heart. Seasonal sweets in particular signify witnessing a recurring celebration, the arrival of a joyful annual festival, or the return or reaffirmation of a just and righteous ruler. Seeing or eating sweets reflects sincerity in religious practice, acceptance of worship, guidance and repentance, learning or reciting the Qur’an, and the sweetness of faith, and it may also indicate glad events such as the release of a prisoner, the return of a traveler, recovery from illness, the marriage of an unmarried person, the purchase of new clothes for one’s children, the acquisition of a loyal servant, or gaining blessed and wholesome wealth. Feeling overly full or saturated with sweets warns of self-admiration, exaggeration, falsehood, or excessive praise, though it may also point to speaking kind and pleasant words. Eating sweets can indicate minor physical discomfort such as catching a cold, while consuming fermented sweets or preserves may symbolize healing and cure. If the sweet is prepared from the four fundamental ingredients, such as honey, sugar, flour, and dates or similar fillings, it signifies happiness, long life, safety, and deliverance from the harmful consequences of a risky or greedy venture. For a believer, eating sweets represents tasting the sweetness and blessings of faith, whereas for a disbeliever it symbolizes immersion in worldly pleasures and transient enjoyment.
