In a dream, a mihrab or prayer niche represents a leader, a guide, or the imam of a mosque. Praying at a mosque’s mihrab in a dream brings glad tidings. If a woman sees herself praying at the mihrab, it indicates that she will give birth to a son or a daughter. The alcoves or shelters used by the poor for retreat in a mosque symbolize sincerity, affection, devotion, remembrance of God Almighty, night prayers, and detachment from worldly matters. Building a mihrab inside one’s home in a dream signifies having male offspring, or it may indicate that the property will be endowed for religious purposes. Seeing a wrongly oriented mihrab in a mosque points to straying from God’s path and errors in speech and action. A mihrab also represents lawful provision or a righteous wife. If the prayer niche appears misdirected, emits a foul odor, or contains the corpse of a dead animal in a dream, it indicates disbelief, innovation, and hypocrisy in the dreamer.
