Islamic Interpretation
Seeing green hedges of an orchard growing outward beyond the boundary while the trees remain inside signifies corruption in religious conduct, decline in worldly rank, financial loss, failure to repent, or preferring the ignorant and boastful over the righteous. It may also indicate weak devotion, abandoning one’s faith, or elevating common people above the virtuous. If the hedges are replaced by a wall, fence, or ditch, it signifies the rising prominence of the garden’s owner. Hedges symbolize one’s religion, while the trees represent religious obligations. They may also represent one’s family, relatives, or livelihood. When interpreted as the world, hedges further symbolize family, descendants, religious life, and the deeds that protect one from punishment in the Hereafter.
