Islamic Interpretation
(Cage, Garment, House, Fortune, Robe) In a dream, one's dwelling symbolizes his place in the world or his worldly life. The state of the dwelling reflects the condition of the dreamer's deeds in wakefulness. Finding oneself in a newly constructed house, freshly painted and fully furnished, signifies prosperity. For a poor person, it means meeting financial obligations with ease; for one under strain, it heralds relief. For an artisan, it denotes mastery of his craft or attaining authority commensurate with the dwelling's beauty, size, and detail. For a sinner, it signifies repentance. The spaciousness or confinement of the dwelling mirrors one's financial state, knowledge, social interactions, hospitality, and generosity. A renovated dwelling suggests the revival or improvement of one's business. Fresh paint indicates the fulfillment of religious duties. Tiled or marble floors symbolize pleasures or one's wife. Dwellings made of solid iron denote long life and power. Entering an unknown house and finding deceased souls residing there means one has crossed into the realm of the hereafter. Dwellings built of mud or plaster reflect adverse circumstances. Entering and then leaving such a dwelling foretells a severe illness from which one will nearly die before recovering. Leaving in anger warns of imprisonment. Seeing someone enter one's home signifies an intrusion into private life or a brazen person becoming a close friend who then betrays trust and commits adultery with one's wife. Seeing one's dwelling collapse or cave in suggests receiving an inheritance from a deceased relative. Building a dwelling for oneself or others can mean the death of a relative or child, or the divorce of one's wife. Dwellings also represent a temporary station in life. If the construction material is unsuitable, it points to unlawful earnings. The dwelling further symbolizes one's physical body, carnal self, and worldly substance. Demolishing a new home in a dream represents evil and severe trials. (Refer also to the entries for Cage, Glass house, and House.)
