Islamic Interpretation
A drinking vessel in a dream may symbolize a woman, a child, or a servant. Cups made of gold or silver carry stronger positive meanings than those of glass. Seeing a cup can also point to secrets being uncovered. A full cup may represent a pregnant woman, and if its water vanishes, it signals the coming of a newborn. A shattered glass cup can indicate death, including that of one's spouse. If a person carries a cup of water and the cup breaks while the water remains in hand, it suggests his wife may pass away after childbirth; if the cup stays whole but the water spills, she survives and the child is lost. A cup may likewise refer to a housekeeper, wealth, or possessions, and its material reflects the qualities of a woman. Eating pieces of a glass cup signals hardship and distress.
