Islamic Interpretation
(Pillar, Post) Within a vision, a column signifies one's religious foundation. Witnessing a pillar descending from the heavens denotes divine grace and the blessing of a fair, merciful, and patient sovereign reigning in that country. To be struck by a post, or to use one to strike another, signifies hearing or uttering severe words that characterize the person who is hit. If one leans upon a column that was purchased or gifted, it suggests his livelihood will depend on an elderly woman, or he will wed an aged woman. A column also symbolizes a dependable friend. A slanting pillar represents an employee who deceives his master, defies him, and is two-faced. Should a laborer see a leaning post, his employer will show him kindness and gratitude. Columns can denote influential and powerful men adept at managing duties. To possess a column or to become a columnist in a vision, if one is fit, indicates he will rise as a leader of his people, a foundational figure in his profession, or a luminary of knowledge and wisdom sought by those in need. Becoming a pillar in a vision may also mean his death, or signify lamentation. A pillar can stand for a father, a son, wealth, principal, a companion, a conveyance, a spouse, or a ruler. A marble column represents immense riches, a man of stature, or a distinguished woman. A granite column denotes a person who holds himself in contempt. Stone signifies rapidly shifting circumstances. A wooden column signifies a hypocrite. The pillars of a mosque represent its Imam, caller to prayer, attendants, and the congregation. (Also see Base)
