If someone who has been promised something sees the vice-regent or caliph, it means the promise will be fulfilled and aspirations realized. Seeing him may also indicate that people from other circles are backbiting the dreamer, speaking without consent, reporting him to authorities, or that scholars are discussing and mentioning his deeds. A vice-regent or caliph can further symbolize detachment, seclusion, honesty, voluntary service, enjoining good and forbidding evil, strengthening faith and certainty, repentance, avoidance of sins, imprisonment, illness, or travel. If one sees himself granted the position of vice-regent or caliph while being unfit for it, it means trials and temptations will afflict the land, though scholars and righteous people will be spared.
