Islamic Interpretation
Cleansing one's filth with heated water in a dream brings favorable outcomes. To construct a bathhouse in a vision implies committing a transgression or spending on a woman to indulge in it, subsequently facing the repercussions. A bathhouse that is warm with tepid water signifies familial affection striving to aid one in overcoming a misstep. Conversely, a cold bathhouse with frigid water indicates rejection or expulsion by one's kin. Witnessing broken water pipes and an uncontrollable flow suggests betrayal by another involving one's wife, despite futile attempts to manage the affair. A leak from the boiler spreading across the floor symbolizes provoking one's wife's wrath. Entering such a place denotes suffering from fever. Drinking scalding water directly from the boiler portends illness, tension, melancholy, and dread of malevolent forces. Drinking cool, refreshing water from a tap, however, promises ease and happiness. Bathing in cold water signifies recovery from an ailment. The bathhouse itself can represent the fires of the hereafter, with its attendant as a keeper. It may also symbolize a judge's chamber and the judge, a prison and its guard, the sea and a ship's captain, a house of ill repute and its inhabitants, a woman and her procurer, or a youth impersonating a husband. If one visits a public bath, completes their wash, dons white garments, and returns home by carriage, it presages imminent death, with the dream elements representing the rituals of washing, shrouding, the coffin, and the funeral. This element can further denote a library, knowledge, a guardhouse, a place of worship, a mosque, a church, a site of idolatry, a jail, or a bazaar. It also stands for penitence, right guidance, affluence, healing, the ocean, or matrimony. Bathing while fully clothed warns of falling prey to an alluring but deceitful woman who will lead one to spiritual ruin. (Also see Bath, Bathroom, Hell-fire, Turkish bath)
