Islamic Interpretation
(The third of the Four Rightly Guided Caliphs). Seeing Uthman ibn Affan in a dream is a noble and weighty vision, carrying meanings of faith, knowledge, character, and destiny. Such a dream signifies the honoring and celebration of knowledge, sincerity in worship, gentleness of character, and love and compassion toward others. It reflects humility before Allah Almighty and kindness toward the believers, symbolizing modesty, patience, and moral refinement. He represents trustworthy leadership, integrity, and responsibility entrusted with sincerity. Seeing him in a dream may also indicate that the dreamer will face hostility or aggression from enemies. In some cases, this vision points to enduring oppression with patience and ultimately attaining victory through martyrdom or moral triumph, even if outward defeat occurs. It can also signify great fortune, abundance, prosperity, noble lineage, strong kinship ties, or close association with honorable and righteous people. Whoever sees ʿUthmān (رضي الله عنه) in a dream may be destined to acquire knowledge and become a scholar, or at least a person deeply connected to learning, wisdom, and religious understanding. However, if one sees him engaged in trade or business in a dream, it may serve as a subtle warning: it can indicate a pursuit of worldly gain while outwardly displaying religious appearance or titles, yet lacking inner sincerity or true piety. If ʿUthmān (رضي الله عنه) is seen besieged inside his own house in a dream, this may symbolize the dreamer’s involvement in oppressing or wronging a great scholar, a righteous person, or a servant of Allah. Such a vision is a strong admonition against injustice toward people of knowledge and faith. Seeing him alive, active, and interacting with people in a dream signifies chastity, piety, reverence, modesty, and purity of intention. It also indicates that the dreamer may earn respect and honor while simultaneously becoming the object of envy or jealousy among peers, due to moral excellence, spiritual standing, or divine favor.
