When a trench in a dream is connected to a king or ruler and his army, it symbolizes his troops and wealth. If it appears in relation to a scholar, it represents his advisers or the close companions who uphold and support his views. When associated with one’s wife, the trench signifies her protector or her father, and when linked to one’s son, it denotes his parents. Seeing a city without a trench or fortress to guard it indicates neglecting almsgiving and charity, squandering wealth, loss of knowledge, the spread of corruption, or the threat of an enemy assault upon that city.
