Thief

Islamic Interpretation

Seeing a thief in a dream points to illness, a flaw in one’s character, or a bodily disorder. If the thief appears dark-skinned, the illness is linked to black bile; if red-skinned, it relates to the blood; if yellow-skinned, it concerns gallstones; and if white-skinned, it pertains to the chest or phlegm. Whatever the thief steals should be interpreted according to the nature of the stolen object. If he takes nothing from the house, it signifies a temporary sickness. Catching the thief or holding onto his garment indicates knowledge of the remedy. A thief may also symbolize an assassin, the angel of death, a guest, or a suitor seeking marriage. If a sick person is present in the house and a thief enters it, the dream indicates the death of the ill person. If the thief enters but takes nothing, it foretells recovery. A thief can further represent a sly individual, a deceiver, an adulterer, a hunter, a backbiter, one who demands what is not his, a lion, a snake, Satan, eavesdropping, or the dreamer’s own thoughts, desires, and passions. If a scholar sees a thief, it means he will gain wisdom from a story. A thief may also signify a liar or the humiliation brought upon such a person. (Also see Crocodile, Illness, Robbery)
