Witnessing string instruments in a dream signifies recuperation from sickness, or they may symbolize a person's backbone, his spinal column, fortitude, severity, determination, state of health, or bodily vigor. Observing such instruments also denotes acquiring insight into human character, the science of physiology, or they could represent the fields of medicine or astronomy. For an unmarried man, it may portend marriage. If a wife sees herself playing a stringed instrument, it means she will cradle a child. Should one see himself playing before a governor's residence, it signifies he will govern people if he is qualified; otherwise, it may mean he will concoct or invent a narrative. Seeing a lute or guitar portends no harm in merely looking at or intending to touch them, unless one hears their music. Playing or hearing such an instrument in a dream signifies falsehood. Playing them in one's home denotes a misfortune that will strike that household. It is also said that playing them can bring renown and authority over others, though it may also bring distress to the player. If a string breaks, it signifies respite and alleviation from strain.
