Islamic Interpretation
In a dream, Pharaoh symbolizes the enemy of God Almighty, tyranny, arrogance, and opposition to truth and divine guidance. Seeing Pharaoh in a pleasing or attractive appearance indicates that the imam, leader, or the one who leads the congregational prayers is outwardly righteous while the people may be neglectful of proper religious conduct, or that authority appears correct while the followers deviate from the right path. If Pharaoh appears ugly, frightening, or repulsive in the dream, it signifies that both the imam and the congregation are upright, sincere, and sound in their faith. This rule applies likewise to seeing any known enemy, whose appearance reflects the spiritual condition of leadership and followers. Seeing oneself transformed into Pharaoh means attaining leadership, power, or authority, but at the cost of one’s religious commitment, morals, or covenant with God, and it warns of pride, injustice, or misuse of power. Hearing people speak about a specific Pharaoh in a dream denotes fame, notoriety, or becoming widely known in that place, whether for good or ill, depending on one’s conduct, and it may also indicate being spoken of with fear, awe, or controversy among people.
