Islamic Interpretation
When a man is identified in a vision, he represents either himself in waking life, a brother, or someone bearing his likeness or name. If this figure takes a valued or treasured possession from the dreamer, the opposite is indicated, and the dreamer will obtain from that person what they desire in reality. Should he take a garment or a cord, it means the dreamer will receive a pledge from the person seen. If he takes away a child, it portends hostility between them. As discussed elsewhere, witnessing the progeny of Adam is generally auspicious. Each class of people carries distinct significance: rulers and judges symbolize judicial matters; government officials represent apprehension; soldiers indicate journeys; artisans denote gain or their specific crafts; women signify trials; and devout persons represent piety and religious commitment.
