Should one then grind bread, meat, or honey with it, this reveals the base nature of that household's inhabitants—their deceit, pretension, or deviant conduct. Witnessing a hand mill grinding stones portends a state of fright. Grinding barley or grain for sustenance suggests resolving domestic issues, abundance, recovery from sickness, or reviving one's trade. A large hand mill seen at a town's center signifies conflict and ruin, especially if it crushes rocks or produces flames or sparks. Alternatively, it may indicate an epidemic if the mill processes rotten grain, clay, or tainted meat. A tilted millstone points to escalating costs.
