In a dream, an earthquake reflects fear of ruling powers or those whose command one cannot resist. It may also point to sweeping changes in a region, or a trial that overtakes a community or land. If one sees mountains trembling, breaking apart, then returning to how they were, it signals a momentous event that will shake that place. Should the ground heave or split open and swallow part of the population while sparing others, it suggests turmoil marked by injustice, civil unrest, or a spreading illness. If the earth quakes and the sky seems torn, it indicates heavy losses touching property, livestock, fields, and institutions as a consequence of people’s wrongdoing. Feeling the ground move beneath one’s feet relates to one’s struggles to secure livelihood or manage business matters. An earthquake can further represent the revealing of secrets, disturbing news, general fear, public chaos, or the emergence of new ailments. If walls collapse in the dream, it signifies the dreamer’s death. When such shaking occurs on farmland, it implies fertility and a plentiful yield. An earthquake may also be interpreted as travel, dancing, disrupted commerce, or arguments within the family. If urban buildings suffer damage, it foretells increased work and profit for builders and craftspeople. Should a fruit orchard be struck, it again suggests a strong harvest. If the quake happens in May, it warns of fierce clashes and widespread disorder; in June, it signals the downfall of harmful trades and their practitioners. If it occurs during the day, it indicates that people of knowledge will be elevated to positions of leadership. A quake in July means a prominent individual will die in that area. In August, it signals an enemy’s assault. In September, it foretells the arrival of a stranger followed by severe plague and hardship. If it takes place in October, it suggests common illness, protection for pregnant women, and stable or falling prices. A quake in November hints at frequent miscarriages. In December, it denotes grave afflictions, epidemics, and death, though not from invading forces. If it happens in January, it points to the deaths of the young. In February, it implies famine and miscarriages. In March, it symbolizes prosperity and abundant crops. For a pregnant woman, seeing an earthquake means she is nearing childbirth.
