Islamic Interpretation
(Mecca, Mount Arafat, Mount of Mercy, Plain of Arafat, Gathering of loved ones) Standing in prayer on the Plain of Arafat during the hajj season, on the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah, in a dream signifies the homecoming of a long-absent traveler, joyful reunions with family, mending of ties between friends, or harmony between disputing parties. Visioning Mount Arafat or its plain may likewise indicate the approach of pilgrimage time, undertaking hajj, performing umrah in Mecca (See Umrah), attending Friday communal prayer, the day of Jumu'ah, visiting a bustling market, or pursuing rewarding trade. Being present at Arafat in a dream further denotes elevation in rank, transformation of circumstances, a shift from prosperity to hardship or from difficulty to ease, or possibly the passing of a dear one such as a spouse, or moving to a sacred land or securing refuge. Standing at Arafat may also imply defeat in a confrontation, yet its outcome will ultimately grant dignity and high standing, or victory over foes. For one burdened with sin, praying and seeking forgiveness at Mount Arafat or beside the Mount of Mercy signifies acceptance of repentance, revelation of a hidden matter, or an imminent meeting of separated loved ones. Appearing at Arafat under cover of night foretells achievement of aims and fulfillment of aspirations. However, standing there after dawn suggests that one's inquiry will remain unanswered.
