Islamic Interpretation
(Including organisms that live off others, such as parasites, insects, intestinal worms, annelids, silkworms, or similar creatures) In dreams, worms generally symbolize children—particularly daughters—or dependents who live under the care and authority of their father. This interpretation extends to all types of worms and parasites that subsist on another being, including those found in bodies or cadavers, as they represent individuals who live off someone else’s provision. Seeing tapeworms emerging from one’s backside in a dream signifies grandchildren, indicating descendants who originate from one’s own lineage. If a person sees worms coming out of his mouth, this suggests that some members of his family are secretly plotting against him. However, the dream also indicates that the dreamer is already aware of their intentions and will ultimately escape their harm—though this deliverance may come at a personal cost, such as emotional pain, loss, or sacrifice. When worms are seen coming out of the stomach, it signifies that the dreamer will separate himself from corrupt or harmful companions. As a result of this distancing, he will regain his honor, moral purity, and inner integrity. In general, worms leaving the body symbolize relief from distress, the removal of burdens, or the payment of obligatory charity (zakat), which purifies one’s wealth and soul. Worms may also represent enemies, particularly those who are weak, hidden, or dependent, yet capable of causing harm if left unchecked. A silkworm in a dream represents a customer, client, or one’s livelihood, and may symbolize the dreamer’s profession or source of income. Most commonly, silkworms indicate financial gain and material benefit. However, in certain interpretations, they may also point to unlawful earnings, suspicious wealth, or income derived from speculation or doubtful means, depending on the dreamer’s circumstances and conduct.
