Islamic Interpretation
Seeing wings in a dream carries meanings related to movement, support, responsibility, and one’s worldly and familial affairs. If a person sees himself flying with wings in a dream, it signifies travel, relocation, or a significant transition from one state or place to another. Wings in a dream also symbolize one’s children, as they are a source of strength, continuation, and support. If one sees his wings fully feathered and well formed, it represents prosperity, authority, dignity, or increased power and influence. Such a vision reflects growth, capability, and stability in one’s life. If a person sees himself flying with someone else’s wings in a dream, it means that he will receive help, backing, or support from another person. This reflects reliance on others and benefiting from their resources, authority, or influence. Hence the common saying among traditional interpreters: “So-and-so flew with so-and-so’s wings.” Having wings but not using them to fly in a dream signifies the accumulation of worldly wealth, material comfort, or possessions that are kept in reserve rather than actively employed. It reflects potential, resources, or means that are present but not fully utilized. A broken wing in a dream represents a severe illness that may befall one’s son or cause him great weakness. If the dreamer feels intense pain from his wings being torn from his shoulders, it may signify the death of his son, indicating profound loss and grief. A wing that exists but does not allow flight symbolizes a lasting wound, setback, or permanent scar in one’s life that hinders progress and advancement. It may also represent punishment for sins, accountability, or consequences that restrain a person’s freedom and ability to move forward. (Also see Arm, Transformation)
