Seeing a well inside one’s house in a dream signifies prosperity, wealth, livelihood, and success. It may represent a wife, a business venture, a teacher, or a servant. At the same time, it can also symbolize poverty, deception, stinginess, generosity, fulfillment of needs, travel, or the attainment of goals. The physical condition and structure of the well in a dream determine its precise interpretation. A well in a dream may also represent a woman—either one known for loud laughter, or a pleasant, attractive, and inspiring woman. If a woman sees a well in her dream, it signifies that she will meet a man of good character. If a person looks into a well in a dream, it indicates that he is contemplating marriage or thinking seriously about a particular woman. A well in a dream also symbolizes knowledge, marriage, a prominent or influential man, imprisonment, bonds, or deceit. If one digs a well and finds water in it in a dream, it means he will marry a wealthy woman whom he may deceive. If the water gushes forth, rises, and flows out of an old well, it signifies crying, sorrow, and grief in that place. Digging a well and finding water to irrigate one’s garden signifies using herbal remedies to cure impotence or taking measures to preserve one’s marriage. Seeing the well of Zamzam quenching the thirst of people in a location other than Mecca signifies that a gnostic will arrive in that town, whose wisdom and knowledge will greatly benefit its inhabitants. It may also indicate blessings, abundance, or victory over enemies. Drinking from such a well signifies fulfillment of intentions and satisfaction of needs. A well in a dream may also represent imprisonment or depression. If one is suffering such a condition, the dream signifies that his difficulties will be lifted and that he will regain standing among people of authority. If the dreamer is a seer or interpreter, it may indicate involvement with governors or rulers, interpreting their dreams, or receiving envoys from prominent people bearing gifts or good news. A well may also symbolize family conflict involving jealousy, envy, or betrayal, though the dreamer will ultimately prevail. Falling into a well may also signify being falsely accused of a crime. A well in a dream can represent taxation or circumcision. Digging a well in a dream further symbolizes a crafty, cunning, and artful deceiver.
