Islamic Interpretation
(Jogging, Prancing, Strutting, Tripping) Walking straight and upright in a dream signifies profit, success, and steadfastness upon the path of righteousness. It reflects consistency in faith, firmness in religious practice, and sincerity in one’s intentions. Walking through marketplaces in a dream represents carrying a will or testament; for one qualified for authority, it may indicate appointment to a position of leadership or public responsibility. Walking barefoot in a dream signifies the removal of distress, humility, and the manifestation of good religious character. In general, walking in a dream expresses meekness, submission before one’s Lord, and striving to earn a lawful livelihood. Jogging or walking briskly indicates victory over an enemy or overcoming opposition. Walking backward in a dream signifies retracting a decision, canceling an agreement, or deviating from proper religious conduct. Strutting, prancing, or walking arrogantly represents an ugly state of mind accompanied by corrupt or sinful actions. Falling flat on one’s face while walking signifies the loss of benefit in both this world and the Hereafter. Stumbling or tripping while walking in a dream indicates exposure of one’s faults and suffering the consequences of wrongdoing. Causing someone else to trip while walking means mocking him, humiliating him, or inflicting emotional harm. Walking steadily and purposefully represents sincerity, good intention, and moral uprightness. Traveling on foot in a dream signifies facing danger, hardship, or trials. Walking with one’s head lowered may indicate long life or recovery from a prolonged illness. Walking upon clouds signifies rainfall and divine mercy. Walking with the aid of a cane signifies old age or illness requiring support. Hopping on one foot in a dream means losing half of one’s wealth. Having many feet signifies loss of eyesight; if a ruler or governor sees himself with many feet, it indicates removal from office or impeachment. Seeing inanimate objects—such as trees, rocks, or mountains—walking in a dream signifies great calamities, widespread trials, or plagues. Their movement may also represent rigidity or stubbornness in one’s religious stance. Walking like animals in a dream signifies imitation of ignorant people, pursuing unattainable desires, or hypocrisy. However, if the animal is lawful for consumption, then such walking represents the performance of good deeds and lawful actions. (Also see Jogging, Prancing, Sound of walking, Strutting, Tripping)
