In a dream, the human voice symbolizes a person’s reputation, public image, or renown. Its strength or weakness reflects the dreamer’s psychological condition or physical health. Raising one’s voice in a dream signifies ruling or dominating people unjustly. Hearing a human voice in a dream indicates being entrusted with an important duty or responsibility. If a human voice is heard coming from an animal in the dream, it denotes great benefit, especially if the animal speaks gently, truthfully, or with comforting words. Raising one’s voice above that of a scholar, shaykh, or teacher in a dream means committing a sin or acting arrogantly toward knowledge. A weak voice in a dream represents a man of low standing or diminished strength. Deliberately lowering one’s voice in a dream signifies indebtedness or humility. If a person of authority, such as a ruler or a policeman, lowers his voice in a dream, it means he may be dismissed from his position or reprimanded for misconduct. The sound of coins clinking in a dream symbolizes temptation, seduction, or disputes among traders, money changers, or stockbrokers. It may also signify good or bad news, or hearing pleasing words, wise counsel, or speech one desires to hear more of, especially if such sounds are linked to friendship or a bridal dowry. If the clinking of money is done mockingly in the dream, it represents a quarrel one is unwilling to resolve. The buzzing of a hornet in a dream represents a person who slanders others or whose harm can only be repelled with the help of someone similar to him. Many interpreters dislike assigning meanings to the cries of peacocks or chickens, stating that they usually signify sorrow and distress, while others interpret the cawing of crows as separation or the announcement of death.
