Tomcat

Islamic Interpretation

A tomcat in a dream represents a thief or a servant, and a cat may also symbolize a wicked and deceitful woman. The same meaning applies to one who spies on people, guards them, or harms his employer’s interests more than he benefits him. If a tomcat scratches or bites someone, it indicates an illness lasting a full year, while the bite of a wildcat carries more severe consequences. Seeing a tomcat resting calmly in one’s house foretells a comfortable, peaceful, and profitable year, whereas a fierce wildcat points to a difficult one. Selling a tomcat means spending wealth on charitable causes. Eating a cat signifies learning sorcery. Transforming into a tomcat indicates living by theft and pursuing harmful means. A tomcat entering the house represents a burglar, and whatever it takes will be stolen in reality. Killing or beating it means capturing and killing a thief. Extracting fat from a cat signifies receiving stolen money or a share of it. Fighting a tomcat denotes a long and exhausting illness followed by recovery; if the dreamer is already ill and the tomcat loses, recovery is near, but if the dreamer loses, the illness has reached its peak. A cat or tomcat can also represent reckoning, estrangement and harshness between spouses, ill-mannered children, disputes, theft, adultery, disloyalty, eavesdropping, mockery, noise, an illegitimate child, a foundling, or an orphan. On another level, a cat may symbolize a flattering, playful, and outwardly gentle person who waits for an opportunity to disturb others. If cats and mice, or lambs and wolves, appear as friends, it indicates hypocrisy, pretension, and moral decay. A civet cat represents a man with a suspicious appearance but upright character and conduct. (Also see Cat)
