In a dream, thunder without rain signifies fear, intimidation, a warning, or an ultimatum. It may also represent reassuring promises, benevolent commands, or the beating of drums. Seeing thunder in a dream can indicate the repayment of debts, and for a sick person, it signifies recovery from illness. Thunder accompanied by lightning and rain symbolizes fear for a traveler or greed and anxiety in a merchant. Hearing news of a terrifying blast in a distant land in a dream means that the inhabitants of that place will be afflicted by a great calamity or sudden mass death. The sound of thunder in a dream may represent murder, fighting, disputes, arguments, negligence in religious observance, loss of wealth, or the release of a prisoner. A thunderstorm accompanied by rain when rain is needed indicates a fruitful harvest for that year. Hearing thunder without seeing lightning signifies assassination, deception, lies, or slander. The sound of thunder also represents being reprimanded or warned by someone in authority. There is no benefit in hearing thunder in darkness without lightning, as this points to apostasy or betrayal, especially if it is accompanied by an earthquake. If thunder is heard in its proper season in a dream, it indicates glad tidings and blessings. When heard outside its season, it signifies the movement of armies or the occupation of a land by foreign forces. Thunder may also represent hymns, glorification, and praise of God Almighty, or it may signify illness, fear, deafness, or the beating of drums at a wedding.
