Islamic Interpretation
(Acrimony, Longevity, Migration, Grasping, Dice) Teeth in a dream are closely connected to one’s lifespan, family, wealth, obligations, and personal strength. Their falling, loss, or condition carries many nuanced meanings depending on how and where they appear. Seeing one’s teeth fall in a dream generally signifies longevity and living longer than one’s contemporaries. Collecting fallen teeth likewise denotes a long life, and may also indicate having many children or a large progeny. However, if one searches for fallen teeth and cannot find them, it suggests that members of his family or clan may die before him, or that a close relative will migrate to a distant land. Finding a lost tooth indicates the return of an emigrant to his homeland. If the upper teeth fall into one’s hand, they symbolize financial gain or profits. Falling into the lap indicates the birth of a son or an increase in offspring, while falling to the ground signifies death. The falling of lower teeth represents sorrow, pain, distress, and emotional suffering. Falling teeth also symbolize debts and financial obligations. Each tooth that falls represents the repayment of a loan or settlement of a debt, and the number of fallen teeth corresponds to the number of obligations discharged. If teeth fall without pain or visible cause, it signifies vain or worthless deeds. If they fall due to disease or pain, it indicates being forced to part with something from one’s household or possessions. If the front teeth fall with pain and bleeding, it denotes weakness, incompetence, or failure to complete an important matter. If they fall without pain or bleeding, it signifies loss of property. Falling teeth may also indicate a prolonged illness that does not necessarily end in death. Collecting fallen teeth can also imply the inability to conceive children. If the teeth fall into one’s lap, it again points to a large progeny. If one’s wife is pregnant and he removes a tooth easily and without pain, it indicates that she will give birth to a son. Bleeding gums signify estrangement from one’s family, unless the dreamer is in debt, in which case it denotes being compelled to repay what is owed. Collecting fallen teeth may also signify speaking words that one later regrets. For a religious or devout person, losing teeth serves as a warning to increase devotion and discipline in worship, with voluntary fasting as a means of correction. If losing teeth renders the dreamer unable to eat properly, it signifies poverty and hardship. In another interpretation, falling teeth may symbolize spending wealth to seek religious or spiritual knowledge, followed by recovering that investment through a blessed and lawful livelihood.
