Islamic Interpretation
(Hearing, Tongue, Listening, Conversation, Utterances) Speaking various languages in a vision denotes affluence. The utterances of a departed person are invariably truthful. The same applies to birds speaking, and their speech heralds good news, prosperity, knowledge, and comprehension. If an animal converses with someone or says, "I dreamed that...," but then does not recount the dream, it foretells a quarrel, a battle, losses, or a dispute. If a dog, leopard, or falcon speaks and relates a dream, it heralds joyful news, substantial earnings, advantages, and happiness. Generally, birds addressing humans denote benefits and advancement in status. If a serpent speaks softly to someone, it means receiving gains from an adversary. If a wild beast speaks, it portends their death. If one's head or nose addresses him, it means the person represented by that body part (see Body) will face a misfortune. If a tree speaks, it means deriving benefit from that line of thought. A talking tree may also signify a conflict or the end of one's banishment, or it could denote elevation. Whatever an infant says is true, but it may also signify falling into error. If a devout and spiritual person hears an infant speak to him, it means he will witness marvels or a miraculous sign, or become witness to an astonishing pact. The speech of inanimate objects always conveys goodness, offers a moral, or gives counsel. Animal speech also represents retribution and distress. The talk of one's limbs denotes difficulties from kinfolk, or it may signify transgression. The speech of shifting shadows denotes summoning jinn or malevolent spirits. Being controlled by such spirits and speaking on their behalf signifies enticement, trouble, corruption, and wickedness. Any words aligning with divine revelations must be heeded and obeyed; the contrary also holds. If a limb converses with someone, it denotes advice from a relative. Animal speech denotes inclining toward friendships and finding solace in the company of the pious, or it could mean laboring to earn one's sustenance. If a wall speaks, it warns of separation, or abandoning the city to dwell in the wilderness, near desolate ruins, or a burial ground. Hearing a voice commanding one to act heralds glad tidings. Hearing God Almighty on the Day of Judgment denotes ascension in rank, performing righteous deeds, and nearness to one's Lord. Listening to the sacred words of God Almighty also signifies the spread of justice and virtue, and such a vision may represent a ruler who tends to his people. If a devout and righteous person sees this, it means he will turn from the world and seek the solace and blessings of the hereafter.
