Shaving one’s hair in a dream is closely connected to a person’s customs, habits, and condition in waking life. If one is accustomed to keeping his hair short and sees himself shaving his head in a dream, it signifies paying a fine, offering an atonement, or settling an obligation. Seeing one’s head shaved during the summer—when one is used to doing so—indicates benefit, comfort, relief, and recovery from ailments such as migraines or physical distress. However, shaving one’s head during the winter signifies hardship, adversity, penalties, or illness. Shaving the head in a dream may also symbolize paying one’s dues, calming fears, and achieving success after anxiety. Shortening one’s hair likewise signifies the appeasement of fear and easing of worry. If a person suffering from depression sees his head shaved, it indicates the end of distress, repayment of debts, or release from burden. At the same time, such a vision may also signify abasement, humiliation, deception, or even death, depending on the dreamer’s circumstances. If a soldier sees his head shaved in a dream, it signifies the loss of strength, authority, or esteem. Seeing oneself chipping or cutting hair in uneven bits indicates the loss of people’s respect and a decline in reputation. Shaving one’s head for someone who does not usually do so may indicate affliction, illness, or an unwelcome trial. If a woman sees her head shaved in a dream, it signifies divorce or the death of her husband. If she sees her hair sheared, it means confinement to her home or restriction of her freedom. If she sees her husband giving her a beautiful haircut while speaking affectionately, it signifies spiritual growth, fulfillment of a trust, or the repayment of debts. Trimming a woman’s hair in a dream may also signify the inability to conceive children. Cutting one’s hair in a dream signifies the loss of strength or vitality. Shaving half of one’s beard indicates losing one’s livelihood and dignity. Plucking out facial hair is worse than shaving, especially when it distorts appearance or attractiveness; however, in some cases it may indicate improvement in condition or outward appearance. Shaving the backside or abdomen in a dream signifies repayment of debts. Shaving, trimming, or grooming one’s moustache indicates lightening one’s burdens, though it may also point to a minor mishap. If a wealthy person sees himself shaving his pubic hair or using a depilatory agent, it signifies loss of wealth or overpaying for a property.
