Islamic Interpretation

A ram in a dream stands for a dignified and eminent person. Grasping it by its wool means receiving money from such a person, while holding its horns implies being prevented by him from doing something. Holding it by the hindquarters denotes managing his affairs, inheriting from him, or marrying his daughter, and holding it by the belly also signifies taking his wealth. Killing a ram for reasons other than food means slaying a noble man, and during war it represents one’s enemy; a slaughtered ram symbolizes murder. Buying a ram from a butcher shows that a great and respected person will need the dreamer’s help for rescue from danger or recovery from illness. Slaughtering a ram indicates healing, and carrying it on one’s head means managing the business or accounts of a wealthy noble. Riding and controlling a ram signifies overpowering an important person, whereas being ridden by it means such a person will dominate one’s life. Breaking its horns shows weakening a powerful man, and fighting it reflects conflict with such a person, with victory in the dream leading to victory in reality. A dead ram signals the death of a great man, and dividing its meat means sharing his wealth after death. Sacrificing a ram to eat and give its meat in charity points to freeing a prisoner, escaping capture, relief from distress, settling debts, performing the pilgrimage to Mecca, or recovery from sickness. Slaughtering, skinning, and hanging a ram means stripping an enemy of his wealth. Seeing a skinned ram inside one’s house means the death of a relative, and if it is the leg, the closest relative. Roasting a ram signifies ruling for a year, after which imprisonment may follow, and the number of rams seen equals the number of years of service or authority. The wool of a ram represents money. A ram may also symbolize a mosque caller, an army commander, a deposed ruler, or a disgraced person. If a ram attacks someone, it means an enemy’s assault. If a ewe turns into a ram, it indicates that one’s wife will no longer bear children, or if unmarried, it signifies success in life. (Also see Ewe, Sacrifice, Sheep)
