In a dream, a pumpkin represents a learned scholar or a skilled physician who is devoted to his patients, beloved by the community, asks little for himself, and rarely makes personal demands. A pumpkin can also signify medicine, especially when cooked. Consuming pumpkin denotes receiving guidance, emulating a righteous example, or possibly facing temptation. It may also mean recovering a lost item, reuniting with a loved one, or correcting one's spiritual outlook. Eating raw pumpkin signifies becoming fearful of unseen spirits (See Jinn) or engaging in a quarrel. Resting beneath a pumpkin's shade represents seeking peace and security. Some say a pumpkin plant denotes a person in poverty. Discovering a pumpkin amid a field of melons indicates recovery from a grave illness. A pumpkin can also signify reprimand, rebuke, or admonishment. Eating cooked pumpkin further denotes gaining knowledge, committing some of it to memory, or mending severed relationships. Pumpkin may also symbolize hardship, difficulty, financial constraint, sickness, or confinement. Additionally, a pumpkin signifies alertness and mental clarity. Serving dishes or kitchen tools made from dried pumpkin rind symbolize women who are beautiful, witty, and of noble character. Eating a spiced pumpkin curry foretells distress, grief, and sorrow.
