Islamic Interpretation
Performing the obligatory daily prayers in a dream signifies keeping one’s promises, achieving objectives, and finding ease and comfort after hardship. Praying at a doorway or before a bed points to a funeral. Seeing oneself alone calling the prayer (azan) and then establishing it (iqamah) means striving to promote good and remove evil from one’s life. Completing the prayer with greetings to the right and then the left indicates the removal of worries and the pursuit of harmony, love, and unity. Giving the greeting only to the right means seeking to correct only part of one’s religious matters, while greeting only to the left signifies forthcoming troubles. Concluding the prayer with the greeting of peace (salam) denotes following one’s path, adhering to proper religious traditions, completing work, resignation, appointment to an important post, dismissal, travel, or profit. Ending the prayer by greeting left first and then right signifies innovation or following an evil path. Finishing the prayer without the customary greetings means preferring immediate gains over safeguarding one’s capital.
