Swearing a pledge of allegiance to the blessed family of God's Prophet—peace be upon him—or to their descendants, or to the true mystics and leaders among his followers in a dream signifies adhering to correct guidance, treading the righteous path, and faithfully observing and upholding divine commandments. Pledging allegiance to the governor of a coastal city denotes triumph over an adversary, receiving good news, esteeming piety, expressing gratitude to one's Lord, and frequently supplicating for deliverance and pardon. Swearing allegiance to a wicked individual or an immoral companion represents assisting evildoers. Taking an oath of fealty to someone beneath a tree signifies obtaining blessings from the Almighty.
