A white pigeon points to spirituality, a green one to piety, and a black one to authority or mastery. A frightened pigeon signifies divorce or death, while a pigeon landing suggests the awaited return of a beloved. Eating pigeon meat means stealing from workers, defrauding them, or cheating servants. Hunting pigeons signifies earning lawful wealth from rich people, though in some cases it points to adultery. For an unmarried person, seeing a pigeon inside the house means marriage. If a pigeon attacks someone then flies away with him, it means joy and happiness will enter his life. Doves may also symbolize death. Throwing something at a pigeon means slandering a woman or exchanging secret correspondence with her. Taking eggs from a pigeon’s nest means exploiting a woman or taking her wealth deceitfully. A pigeon perched on one’s head, neck, or shoulders reflects one’s bond with his Lord; if the pigeon is ugly, it reflects corrupt deeds, and if beautiful, righteous ones.
