Islamic Interpretation
In a dream, the palm of the hand reflects one’s physical condition in waking life. Clapping hands may signify joy and happiness, though it can also carry no waking implication. Wearing a glove suggests abandoning wrongdoing. Striking one’s face with both palms denotes grief, sorrow, or impending misfortune. Hitting the back of one hand into the palm of the other signifies separation. The palm also represents personal strength. Opening the palm indicates wealth and abundance, while clenching a fist points to poverty or constrained living. Hair growing on the palm signals distress, sadness, and debts, whereas hair on the back of the hand reflects strength or virility. Seeing one’s hand extended from the sky indicates a connection with authority or rulers, and an outstretched heavenly hand brings profit and blessings to hunters, builders, or those in real estate. The palm can symbolize one’s worldly affairs or abandoning a certain action. If a fearful person sees a palm extended toward him, it means his fear will be removed. A broad, open palm signifies generosity and prosperity, while a closed fist indicates miserliness. A pleasant-looking palm may denote refraining from evil or neglecting charity. The palm also represents prayers, supplications, comfort, offering comfort to others, or receiving benefit from them. It further symbolizes a year, livelihood, wealth, leadership, a son, courage, and abstaining from wrongdoing. (See Desisting from evildoing)
