Islamic Interpretation
Consuming an uncooked onion in a vision portends an unfortunate event. If an ill person eats a modest portion, it suggests he may succumb to his sickness; however, consuming a great quantity foretells recovery. Eating green onions or scallions, conversely, signifies material well-being and physical vigor, though these will be accompanied by anxiety, grief, or distance from one's spouse. Ingesting a pungent or aromatic herb implies scorn or aversion from certain family members, or the eventual exposure of concealed affairs. If the herb is a type of bulb that must be peeled, it symbolizes inquisitiveness and listening in secret, representing that which is typically cast aside. For a merchant, onions symbolize currency; for a voyager, they denote good health, accomplishment, and a secure journey home. Onions in general also represent hardship and trials. Harvesting onions from a field signifies injury inflicted by one's own kin.
