Islamic Interpretation
Seeing the Commander of the Believers, Omar ibn al-Khattab, may God be pleased with him, in a dream signifies long life, trustworthiness, strength of character, and praiseworthy deeds, and whoever sees him will be inclined to speak the truth, uphold justice, and invite people to the straight path, and he may also be granted the ability to visit the Sacred House in Mecca for an auxiliary pilgrimage (‘Umrah). Shaking hands with Omar in a dream indicates prosperity, piety, vigilance in faith, and strong belief, with deeds whose worth exceeds one’s reputation, while seeing him frowning means a call to justice and a command to enjoin good and forbid evil. If a land suffers from drought and Omar is seen in a dream, it signifies the coming of rain and blessing, and if tyranny prevails and he is seen, it foretells the establishment of justice and fairness. If Omar strikes someone with a stick, warns him, or threatens him in a dream, it is a sign that the dreamer must abandon wrongful actions or deviation from God’s path, or that he may face discipline or persecution from a ruler or scholar. Seeing oneself as Omar or wearing his garments in a dream means attaining honor, a dignified rank, or dying as a martyr, and seeing him smiling indicates adherence to the teachings of God’s Messenger, peace be upon him, and following his Sunnah. Seeing Omar in a dream also signifies the dominance of truth and justice in one’s time, trustworthiness, and the spread of righteousness, and it may further indicate reconciliation with enemies, replacing hatred with love, harmony with in-laws, detachment from worldly attachments despite the ability to attain them, and ruling or dealing with people with justice, compassion, and love.
