Islamic Interpretation
In a dream, the mouth represents one’s entire life from beginning to end, as well as the path of livelihood and the source of strength. Putting medicine into the mouth signifies reforming one’s life and correcting one’s condition. Placing food in the mouth denotes worldly benefit and profit, unless the food tastes foul or is spoiled, in which case it indicates loss, distress, and sadness. Eating pleasant or sweet food signifies a joyful and affluent life. A sealed or locked mouth signifies death, illness, muteness, silence, helplessness, or defeat. If the mouth appears larger than normal, it indicates expansion and increased benefit, while a smaller mouth signifies restriction and loss. A pleasant-smelling mouth signifies good speech. Infection of the mouth points to calamity or business loss. Something good emerging from the mouth signifies kindness toward others. Seeing one’s mouth sealed by an unknown source indicates scandal or defamation. The mouth is interpreted in seven ways: knowledge, a chest, a cellar, a bookshelf, a marketplace, a doorkeeper, a minister, or a door. If a righteous person sees a restraint placed on his mouth, it signifies fasting, while for an impious person it signifies reproach and reprimand. (Also see Body)
