In a dream, the main or central mosque of a city represents the king, governor, or ruler of a Muslim land, for he is responsible for establishing divine law and serves as a symbol of Islam and the final authority between what is lawful and unlawful. Smelling an apple inside a mosque signifies marriage. A mosque in a dream resembles a central marketplace where people gather daily seeking benefit, and each person gains according to his deeds and efforts. It also represents someone who is obeyed, honored, and respected, such as a father, teacher, shaykh, or learned man, and it stands for justice, meaning that whoever enters a mosque in a dream will not be treated unjustly. The central mosque further symbolizes the Qur’anic revelation, an ocean of knowledge, a place of purification and cleansing from sins, a graveyard that inspires humility and reflection, the washing and shrouding of the dead, medicine, silence, sincerity of intention, and turning toward the qibla of the Ka‘bah in Mecca.
