Islamic Interpretation
Moses. (God’s prophet Moses, peace be upon him.) Seeing the prophet Moses, peace be upon him, in a dream signifies that God Almighty will bring about the destruction of a tyrant through one’s hands, after which the dreamer will rise in rank, achieve repeated victories, and will not be disgraced or overcome. Such a vision also points to the strength and eventual triumph of the righteous and the unavoidable downfall of the unjust. If, at the time of the dream, there is an oppressive or impious ruler, then seeing Moses means that God Almighty will remove him and deliver the dreamer from his harm. If a person in authority sees himself as Moses or wearing one of his garments, it means he will defeat his enemy and attain what he earnestly seeks. If one sees Moses while imprisoned, persecuted, or while fearing a catastrophic event, death, a fatal accident, or a perilous sea journey, it means, by God’s will, that he will be saved and will survive the ordeal. Seeing Moses in a dream also signifies the end of oppression or victory in battle. If someone is wronged, anxious, or distressed by members of his own family and sees Moses in a similar condition, it means God Almighty will show him a way to overcome them, and if a traveller sees such a dream, it means he will return home safely. Seeing Moses further indicates trials in childhood, separation from family, witnessing extraordinary signs, suffering at the hands of one’s relatives because of sincere admonition, leaving behind a will for them, or enjoining good and forbidding evil. This vision may also symbolize a love of travel, noble intercession, sea voyages, safe return, profit, suffering from slander or false accusations, weakness in speech, unsteady movement, or affliction of the head. If an ascetic, one who has renounced worldly pleasures, or a devout person sees Moses in a dream, it signifies an increase in wisdom, illumination of the heart, and elevation in rank. If a woman sees Moses in a dream, it warns her of fear for her child, or it indicates a hardship that will ultimately end well, and the same meaning applies if a child sees Moses in a dream. Seeing oneself carrying the staff of Moses means attaining high status and prevailing over an enemy, and if the dreamer is afflicted by sorcery or an evil spell, it indicates that it will be rendered powerless.
