A monkey in a dream symbolizes a person burdened with every kind of defect. A monkey also represents a sinner or a criminal, and being bitten by one denotes quarrels or disputes with someone. It may further symbolize a deceitful individual, a practitioner of sorcery, or an illness. Turning into a monkey in a dream means benefiting from magic or committing adultery. A monkey can also represent a vanquished enemy, and riding on its back signifies victory over one’s foe. Eating monkey meat in a dream indicates depression, poverty, alcoholism, deprivation, or an illness that brings one close to death. Being given a monkey as a gift means overcoming and capturing an enemy, or it may signify betrayal of a trust. Carrying a monkey on one’s shoulders indicates stealing from one’s own home or from family property. A monkey also symbolizes a filthy and repulsive person.
