Islamic Interpretation
In a vision, lips symbolize a person's dignity, power, vitality, supporter, clarity in speech, articulateness, or deep affection for a companion. The lower lip holds greater significance than the upper. The upper lip represents an intimate friend or someone one relies upon completely. Any condition affecting the lips will reflect upon these corresponding aspects. Lips may also signify one's spouse, offspring, or kinfolk. Experiencing pain in the lips indicates suffering originating from friends. Having one's lips severed denotes engaging in gossip against others. Losing the lower lip alone suggests losing a supporter or provider. An absent upper lip signifies a life lacking divine favor. A missing lower lip foretells the death of one's wife. A split upper lip doubles the effect regarding the person it symbolizes. A split or cracked lower lip indicates a clandestine relationship with two women; if the upper lip, it signifies having two close friends. Healing of chapped lips means reconciliation between friends or gaining their agreement to one's view. Removal of the upper lip signifies cutting ties with a close companion. Lips also denote family relations. They can represent recovery from sickness, compelling an envious friend to comply, or receiving heartening news. Lips may also symbolize a doorkeeper, young servants, guards, locks, knowledge, direction, nourishment, beverages, marriage, joy, sorrow, or safeguarding confidences. Having no lips means losing any of these, or could indicate a broken door, lost keys, or the death of a parent, husband, or wife. Lips also represent the income of vocalists, wind instrument players, or glassblowers. Thin, rosy lips denote clear speech, guidance, fine food and drink, and contentment. Thick, black or blue lips suggest sloth, lethargy, inability to provide evidence or a reliable witness, discomfort, or hardship in earning a living. For an ill person, black or blue lips may predict death. Closed lips represent eyelids, the female private part, the anus, riverbanks, or a well opening. (Also see Body)
