Receiving an invitation to a meal in a dream, whether for lunch or dinner, signifies embarking on a lengthy journey. An invitation seen in the middle of the afternoon points to rest or a pause from exhausting or distressing work. If the invitation is specifically for dinner, it indicates betraying someone under the concealment of night. Seeing oneself arranging to invite people for lunch or dinner in a dream means seeking business dealings with them or attempting to enter their social circle, for which one may later be reproached for intrusion or interference. Hosting a dinner at one’s home in a dream, after the guests have finished eating, signifies assuming authority or leadership over them. If a sick person dreams of such an invitation at his house, it foretells recovery from illness. Serving food to guests in a dream means the return of a beloved person from a long journey.
