Islamic Interpretation
Seeing oneself performing the funeral prayer, the Janāzah, in a dream signifies intercession and supplication on behalf of the deceased and reflects compassion, concern for others, and awareness of accountability. If the deceased person is unknown, performing the funeral prayer indicates employment or opportunity for one who is jobless, profit gained through partnership, or involvement in communal responsibilities, though it may also warn of negligence in fulfilling regular obligatory prayers, forgetfulness, or distraction during worship. Leading the funeral prayer and making excessive or exaggerated invocations on behalf of the deceased signifies being appointed by a hypocritical ruler to manage a portion of his affairs, indicating authority mixed with moral compromise. Invoking blessings upon the deceased indicates divine forgiveness granted to him by God Almighty. Sitting among people who are praying for the dead signifies attending a funeral or participating in collective remembrance of death. Performing funeral prayers in general also symbolizes interceding on behalf of a sinner, seeking mercy, forgiveness, and relief from punishment for those burdened by wrongdoing.
