Seeing a flood, inundation, or torrent in a dream signifies an assault from enemies, widespread harm, destruction, illness, fear, or the hardship of an exhausting journey, and it may also indicate the overwhelming of a town or community by trials. If the floodwater flows toward a river, it denotes deliverance and escape from a dangerous enemy or an imminent threat. Struggling against a flood or preventing it from entering one’s home symbolizes confronting an enemy in order to protect one’s family, honor, and possessions, while successfully stopping it also points to reconciliation or the neutralization of hostility. If people benefit from the floodwater for their wells, crops, or land, the dream indicates prosperity, abundance, a fruitful year, effective irrigation, and strong protection. A flood may also represent lies, hypocrisy, falsehood, excessive or wasted speech, and the spread of corruption. When a town is seen flooded with blood, it signifies divine wrath, severe punishment, or collective consequences for widespread sins. Floods may likewise symbolize rainfall, the tongue and its impact, or a sharp-tongued woman whose words overwhelm others. If one’s house is flooded, it reflects past deeds whose consequences will later manifest as benefit or provision.
