Dragon

Islamic Interpretation

Dreaming of a dragon points to a harsh sovereign or cruel authority, and may also picture a devouring blaze. The count of its heads measures the threat: more heads, graver peril. Should an ill dreamer meet the beast, it forecasts his expiry. If a woman with child imagines birthing such a creature, she will deliver an offspring burdened by lingering sickness. Bearing a dragon likewise signals a youth who will master speech, answer to two names, or follow the paths of soothsayer, recluse, rogue, bandit, or insolent wretch finally slain. The dragon also marks the passage of eras. When the monster approaches without dread, speaks plain words, or bestows a gift, expect joyful announcements. If a colossal dragon shifts into human shape, it embodies a regiment of male or female jinn; marching feminine spirits betoken a foe cloaking aim and name. That enemy owns many heads and arts of foul conduct, each head from one to seven signifying varied misfortunes or crafts of harm. A seven-headed serpent shows an unequalled adversary whose plots know no parallel. Should the sleeper rule the dragon, he exploits one whose mind is unsound. (Also see Jinn)
