Islamic Interpretation
A dogfight (two or more dogs fighting and biting each other) symbolizes intense rivalry, enmity, and competition driven by worldly desires (hubb al-dunyā – love of the world). The dogs represent base, lowly people who have little or no religion: corrupt individuals, sinners, people of bid‘ah (innovation), or those who openly display immoral behavior. When these “dogs” fight one another, it reflects a fierce struggle over material gains, status, power, wealth, or fleeting pleasures of this worldly life. (Also see Dog)
