Islamic Interpretation
Dates in a vision symbolize money or glad tidings. Eating them denotes acquiring lawful livelihood. Dates are comparable to currency, as they are not meant to be stored indefinitely. Green, unripe dates suggest water will become accessible to those in need. Reddish unripe dates may point to a blood disorder involving an excess of red cells over white. Dates can also signify rainfall. To eat dates is to read the Holy Qur'an and derive spiritual benefit. Dates hidden in the earth represent saved wealth. Burying dates oneself can also imply misappropriating the funds or property of orphans. Dates left to dry in the sun denote money that is soon spent. Harvesting dates in their proper season may lead to marriage with a virtuous and affluent woman, or to gaining knowledge. Harvesting them out of season means one will learn something beneficial but not put it into practice. Fanning oneself with a fresh, moist palm frond signifies learning something useful from a hypocrite or finding relief from anxiety. If a woman sees herself eating ripe, juicy dates, she will inherit from her husband and be named in his will, even if divorced. Splitting a date and removing its pit foretells the birth of a son. Eating fresh dates means hearing pleasant words and receiving other advantages. (Refer also to Bunch of dates, Date spread.)
