A cow seen in a dream symbolizes a long life. A cow that is black or yellow denotes joy, abundance, and a bountiful yield. Should one see a white marking on a cow's face early in the year, it signifies stability. A piebald cow, or one patched with white and black, carries a similar meaning, though it also indicates firmness if witnessed around mid-year. A plump cow in a dream foretells a lengthy life and material wealth. Such a cow might also represent a devout woman. A thin, wasted cow suggests a period of drought. Consuming cow's milk, meat, or fat in a dream points to affluence and lawful earnings for that year. A horned cow denotes a defiant woman. If a dairy cow permits milking, it signifies blessings being bestowed; refusal, however, foretells strife and disagreement. Should a servant dream of milking his master's cow, it means he will wed his master's widow and acquire great riches. A cow entering one's home and charging or butting the dreamer warns of domestic losses and betrayal. Striking or biting a cow in a dream suggests the cow embodies one's own misdeeds. Being scratched by a cow indicates impending sickness. An attack by a cow or steer portends a severe chastisement or possible death within the year. Riding a black cow, or bringing one into the house and tethering it, heralds wealth, successful trade, and the lifting of worry, grief, solitude, or hardship. A butchered cow represents a disaster. The arrival of yellow cows at a city's dock signals an epidemic or the spread of strange illnesses. An ugly herd of cows, with smoke from their nostrils, entering a town to the dismay of its people, means an invasion, enemies, or occupation by unwanted troops. Riding a cow suggests an inheritance from a woman. Receiving a cowhide as a gift foretells money from an authority figure, while having one taken away indicates a fine to be paid. Seeing the calf from the story of the Children of Israel points to discord, trials, or killing. It may also signify a wondrous occurrence or a divine sign manifesting in that area.
